Nokia CP-235 cases scratching theN95 8GB?
Remember the case that came with the classic APAC N95? It was a nice looking case (not too mention the fact that it was included for free), but the linings came of sticking to the back of the N95, creating a difficult-to-remove stain. Darla reported the same thing here. A new problem seems to be affecting the much newer N95 8GB and its case, the Nokia CP-235. I did a review of the case here: not only is it a durable case, it’s also the best looking case I’ve ever seen for the N95 8GB. The combo of the N95 8GB and the CP-235 case are real head turners. On the other hand the case is hard to open due to its stiff faux leather material, there isn’t a belt clip and Camera capture key, gallery key and IR-port are only accessible when the case is opened.
I recently noticed that a few scratched had developed on the sliding part of the N95 8GB, due to maybe the case being too tight and the sliding part scratching when you slide it up or down. Another possibility might be that when you take the phone out it scratches, but I’m willing to bet on the first possibility. The scratches are visible but this definitely not something I would expect it to do. This can be alleviated a bit by pushing the sides that hold on to the sliding part of the phone upwards, making the distance between it and the phone larger. This makes the chances of the case scratching the phone much smaller. Nokia can you please do long-term real-world testing of these cases before you bring them out. Have you had problems with the N95 and its APAC case or the N95 8GB and the CP-235?
skywalker is right, placing two thin strips of black tape under the plastic frame is very helpful. The 1st time I bought this case and immediately put my N95 8GB, I noticed very small scratchings at the left side of the phone after using it for one week (well, it's really small though). As I further inspected, I realized that the scratching made was not due to sliding but to the bumps made by the phone when you held it upright (the phone moves forward when its in your pocket and your walking). So, I placed two thin strips of black tape at each side of the plastic frame, not only did it help in preventing a scratch on my phone, but also held it in place (steady all the time).

I, too, have a Nokia N95 8GB and a cp-235 case. It has scratched my phone. When I telephoned Nokia, they were of NO help whatsoever. Obviously, a manufacturer's defect but Nokia offered no solutions, except to return it for a PRORATED refund. Go figure...

I have the cp235 case too. It scraced my n95 8gb on both sides. I know why: The ends of the hard plastic case are too high. If you slide your display up or down, the sides squized in between the middle tooths and the endings of the plastic case.

i'm using the CP 235 too. it's a nice leather casing to use. i also faced the same scratching problems but i solved it by pasting 2 thin strips of black tape under the plastic frame. works like a charm now!
