N-Gage postponed till December, Warner pulls its songs from Nokia's music shop
I woke up today expecting to find the usual Nokia press releases in my email inbox regarding the pending N-Gage release and a possible official announcement of the N82, but alas nothing. Checked the usual Nokia and Symbian blogs and didn’t find anything. Reuters has an article up explaining what happened, but I haven’t heard anything official in the form of a press release. It seems Nokia postponed the start of its gaming service due to software testing delays. The music store also faced some trouble as Warner Music pulled its songs from Nokia's music shop. "N-gage is coming in December. Software testing is taking a bit more time than what we had expected," Kari Tuutti said. "We are talking about a couple of weeks." Reuters is reporting that: Warner Music Group Corp is withholding its content from the site, partly over concerns about illegal downloads at Nokia's file-sharing site Mosh, the Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition. "We think we have done a lot to ensure that content owners' rights are not abused," Tuutti said. "We are hoping to reach agreement with Warner."
It’s kind of disappointing as I was really looking forward to test the N-Gage platform, but these are small setbacks that always plague these big launches. I’m sure they’ll get this up and running pretty soon. For more info, head on over to the Reuters article. In the mean time let me know what you think.
