Nseries and Memory cards: Part 1: Sandisk microSDHC 4GB

Nseriescardpart1Nokia’s Nseries devices starting from the N95 and later are microSDHC-capable, this means that they will work with microSD cards that will support capacities of 4 to 32 GBs. And with recent devices such as the N96 with its built-in 16GB and additional support for microSDHC you will quickly see that serious storage capacities is easily within reach of everyone. For this reason ultra-large memory cards are becoming must-have accessories. Seeing the important role that memory cards are playing and will be playing in our mobile world I decided to start a series of reviews exploring various facets of memory cards, trying to answer common questions like: should I get a fast class 6 memory card for my Nseries or will a class 4 or even 2 suffice? What brand and model should I get? Is there a lot of performance gained when transferring files to the PC using Nseries device or a memory card reader and how does the speed class affect this? More questions will be added and answered as the series progresses and I must admit that I myself don’t have the answer to some of these questions, so it will be learning process to say the least. I start the series of with the review of Sandisk’s microSDHC 4GB card, a class 2 rated device currently going for less than 50 bucks, a pretty cheap way to add lots of meory to your Nseries. Is this a model the model for you? This will be followed by a review of the 8GB version, a class 4 rated card. Let’s get this series rolling!
